Sponsored by the Institute of Gerontology at the University of the District of Columbia, the Senior Companion, Respite Aid Program allows homebound abuelitos to receive the help they need with housekeeping, cooking, and personal grooming by trained Vida Senior Companions who also serve as escorts for medical appointments.

For younger abuelitos, this program presents an employment opportunity. They receive culturally- relevant and language-appropriate training to provide the supports homebound abuelitos need, while feeling productive and supplementing their income.
