Counseling Services

Our counseling services assist abuelitos with a wide range of independent-living needs, which most often include housing, employment, obtaining food in their homes, and maintaining entitlements (such as SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, and food stamps).Other services provided to abuelitos by our counseling department include:

  • Drafting of wills and powers of attorney.
  • Legal referrals.
  • Assistance with completing employment applications, and help in connecting with senior employment programs, such as “Proyecto Ayuda.”
  • Assistance with completing applications, such as the N 400 Application for Naturalization, Form 90 for Legal Permanent Residency, and the Temporary Protected Status form to secure a work permit.
  • Letter-writing.
  • Translations.

VIDA is connected to a network of comprehensive service providers in the District to which our staff make referrals for other services when necessary.
